Just so you all know I'm going to be in Florida through August 11th, so don't have too much fun without me ;) Also, I found this really cute Livejournal site ( http://www.livejournal.com/users/potterpuffs/) that has Harry Potter characters drawn in the style of the Powerpuff Girls. They are so adorable!
I've been reading this Harry Potter fanfic on Cosforums.com, and it is hilarious! I laughed out loud constantly. It's kind of long to read in one sitting, but at the same time it isn't long enough. Here's one of my new favorite lines: "Your fates lie in my hands! You are my puppets! My pawns! I hate to be trite, but in the absense of a more original term that conveys the proper sentiment, I must say; Mua-ha-ha-ha-ha!" If you want to read it, here's the link: http://www.cosforums.com/showthread.php?t=3617
Sat, Jul. 9th, 2005, 07:33 pm Basic Bases
I joined this LJ community a while back that makes icon bases (basically the images you use for icons without any animation or writing), and I posted a few of my Disney Heroine icons. You can see them if you want, but you have to join the community first. It's called Basicbases, and you can find all sorts of stuff there (someone recently posted some Pirates bases!). Joining doesn’t really require anything (you don’t have to pay or post or whatever), you just add the community to your friends list, which allows you to see the entries. Anyway, I’m done with my shameless self-promotion!

I'm going to start posting links here whenever I update my bravenet journal so you guys will know when I have a new entry. And you have to see the picture I got of this guy at the world affairs seminar thingy! I put it here: http://scarlettear.bravejournal.com/
Mon, Mar. 21st, 2005, 03:28 pm An Update!
Wow, I'm actually updating here! Hell is going to freeze over any minute now... So I didn't do very well at IHSA last weekend, but I wasn't expecting to anyway. The research we had sucked, but it was my fault for not doing any on my own. I had a lot of fun hanging out with everyone, and I'm sorry if I was kind of in a bad mood. I guess I was just so eager to get back home to see Mick that I couldn't enjoy doing something that was keeping me away from him for an extra day. Speaking of which, on Saturday he came over for dinner and brought us a cake, which I thought was really sweet. It's always kind of awkward when he's there with my whole family though because my dad is still uncomfortable with the idea of me dating (I'm sure you guys remember the whole gun story...lol). He reminds me a lot of Steve Martin's character in the movie Father of the Bride, if you've ever seen that. Anyway, after dinner we went upstairs to watch some of his Futurama DVDs until around 2 AM. Yesterday he and his mom took me out to see a play called Red Herring, which was actually pretty funny. There was this one hilarious part in the play where Joe McCarthy's daughter had just gotten engaged to a Soviet spy, and he wanted her to deliver these blueprints to someone. She was talking to her mom about him at breakfast, and she asked her mom what she would have done of her father had asked her to do something that she was uncomfortable with doing. The mom was like, "Many times, but I told him that if he wanted that, he would need to get a Chinese hooker because a good Christian girl would never do it." Afterwards, he dropped his mom off at his house, and he brought his laptop over to my house so we could watch South Park and look at the pictures he had on his computer of fighter jets and stuff. He stayed over until 3 in the morning, and after he left his mom called my mom to ask if he was still there. I hope he didn't get in trouble or anything..
Ok, I'm getting really sick of this. Every time I try to make a comment or type an entry, the stupid site is in "read only mode" (I know Niki is having the same problem). I think we should all move to http://www.bravenet.com, or at least keep some entries there. For one thing, bravenet always lets you post. It also has a ton of cute smilies that you can use in your entries (there's one of a smiley on a moped, which is hilarious), and you can do a lot more customizations to make it look all pretty. Xanga.com is not bad either, but I like Bravenet better. My journal is at http://scarlettear.bravejournal.com if you want to see how it basically looks. Anyway, if you guys want to stay here, that's fine. I'm just getting kind of annoyed.
Sun, Mar. 6th, 2005, 02:55 pm My Weird Dream
Since Erin was on the subject of dreams ( http://www.livejournal.com/users/music_belle/14459.html), I guess I'll share mine. I was at my grandma's old house, and we were taking pictures of it (I always wanted to do that before she moved, but never got around to it), and I went into the bathroom. I looked in the mirror, and all of a sudden I could feel my tooth coming loose. I reached in to pull it out, and three more came loose. Then my bottom front teeth all fell out at once, and they were all stuck together. The weirdest thing about this dream is that I've had the same one before, except not in the same situation. It's just that I always have really vivid dreams about my teeth falling out. Sometimes they'll fall out one by one, or they'll crumble into tiny pieces, or a few will fall out but stay connected. This website that I found has some interesting interpretations: http://dreammoods.com/cgibin/teethdreams.pl?method=exact&header=dreamid&search=teethintro Lol, maybe I'm going through menopause!
Ok, I think getting a good night's sleep (that wasn't 15 hours long) is what I needed. Seriously, I've been having these massive mood swings lately. One moment I'll be fine, and the next I'll be ready to rip my hair out. Maybe I'm bipolar...Lol. Apparently Deignan had signed me up to go to the tournament yesterday, although he didn't bother to inform me of this. Ken called last night and was like, "Why weren't you at the tournament?" and I was like, "I was supposed to go?" He said that I could go tomorrow (which would be today) but I figured it would kind of be pointless because I'd already missed a whole session. Oh well.
Thu, Mar. 3rd, 2005, 08:57 pm School Sucks
I am so sick of school that I don't know what to do with myself anymore. Every morning I wake up and I'm like, "shit, not again." It's just so fucking monotonous. Basketball and "fitness" games are boring, I don't care about the revolutions of 1848, and we've been doing the same exact thing in stats over and over again for like 2 weeks straight. At lunch I never have anything to do because the crapload of homework that I could be doing involves books that are at my house or a computer, in English we have been going to the library where we are supposed to be researching our topics on "multiculturalism" (what a perfectly liberal assignment). In physics we are doing stuff with momentum, which is not only boring, but difficult. Psych is probably the only interesting class I have right now, but it is ruined by the fact that I know when the hour is over I will have to go to Spanish, which is I-want-to-shoot-myself-and-slam-my-head-i nto-a-wall-and-slit-my-wrists boring. I don't think I can stand two more weeks of this.

So I went over to IMAO.us to see if the next In My World had been posted yet, and I stumbled upon a link to an article written by Ted Rall. If you don't know who he is, this f*cking b*stard is responsible for writing an insulting comic about Pat Tillman, the football player who turned down a $3.6 million contract with the NFL to go over and fight in Afghanistan, where he was later killed. This man sacrificed his own life, not to mention the chance to make millions of dollars by playing professional football to fight for a cause that he believed was greater than himself. And Ted Rall has the audacity to go and write this comic: http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=13255On top of that, after Ronald Reagan’s death, he wrote in one of his columns, "His clown-like dyed hair and rouged cheeks disgusted us. We hated him during the dark days he made so hideous, and, with all due respect, we hate him still." Rall also wrote that he was sorry that Reagan “didn't die in prison, where he belonged,” and went on to say that he was probably “turning crispy brown right about now.” Talk about a lack of class! (Incidentally, he went on Hannity and Colmes after making these statements, and Sean totally shot him down. I mean Colmes, who still believes that OJ was innocent, couldn’t even defend the guy! You can read the transcript here: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,122264,00.html) Anyway, I clicked on the link and was brought to one of Rall’s articles, which didn’t really interest me, and I didn’t want to waste a few minutes of my life reading it, so I was about to go back when something caught my eye. It was a link to an article written by Rall on medical malpractice. Seeing as my dad is a doctor, I wanted to see what Rall had to say about it. Now this is where it gets personal. At one point, Rall writes, “Of course, there's an easy way for a doctor to avoid malpractice suits: do a good job. Do no harm and you probably won't get sued.” Ha, if only it were that easy! Rall is obviously living in a fantasy world where lawyers are focused on “helping the little people” fight injustices imposed on them by heartless, evil doctors. They aren’t in it for the money, they are doing it out of the goodness of their hearts! Ever hear of a man named John Edwards *cough ambulance chaser cough*? He then adds, “And the courts are good at throwing out frivolous lawsuits before they become expensive.” Yeah, whatever. See this site for some examples of “non-frivolous” lawsuits: http://www.calahouston.org/default.htmlAnd by the way, considering the fact that our Congress is dominated by lawyers, why on earth would they be looking out for the doctors when they have their own interests to defend? Hey Ted, next time you’re diagnosed with cancer, burned, shot, become ill with the flu, endure severe head injuries in a car accident, break a bone, etc (I wish…), why don’t you go running to one of your lawyer friends? I’m sure one of them will be able to help you, as I highly doubt any self-respecting doctor would want to save your sorry ass. Ok, that’s all for my rant. I feel much better now!
Well, I am now thoroughly convinced that my Spanish teacher hates me. We were put in groups for this stupid research project about mexican native tribes, and of course I get stuck with the two loudest, most obnoxious people in our class, and another person who I don't really like. It's like she planned it or something. So I wasn't feeling very good to begin with when I got home, and I go online and on the welcome screen for AOL there is a picture of Hillary Clinton. What are they trying to do, make me throw up?
So I finally got around to working on my psych packet. It's taking forever, and I'm so sick of doing it. Stupid busy work. The section I just finished was on schizophrenia, which has to be one of the most horrible psychological diseases known to mankind. People with schizophrenia think in a completely disorganized fashion, and none of what they say makes any sense. There's a paragraph in the book that was recorded by someone listening to a person with schizophrenia. Part of it was like, "That Indian doctor in Building 40 was Lou Costello. I'm Mary Poppins. Is this room painted blue to get me upset? My grandmother died four weeks after my eighteenth birthday." Isn't that the most bizarre thing you ever heard? They also have hallucinations, like hearing people tell them to burn themselves with a cigarette lighter. It kind of makes you wonder whether it would be worse to have a chronic psychological illness or a chronic physical illness. I mean, at least if you have cancer or something, you can think logically and interact with people.
Sun, Feb. 20th, 2005, 03:41 pm First Entry
Well, I was bored, so I decided to start a Livejournal. Yay! Unfortunately I don't have much to write about, but lately I have been reading this site at http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=56995&perpage=25&pagenumber=1 that is cracking me up. It's a thread on a message board in which these people took terrorism safety pictures from ready.gov and added their own captions. There's over 30 pages of this stuff! Yesterday I had to volunteer at the hospital gift shop, which was boring as usual. But the worst part about it was that they played that song that they sing to you on Valentine's Day when you get a singing Valentine (not sure what it's called, but if I remember I'll probably get it in my head) over and over and over again for about an hour straight. Finally, the woman I was working with took it off repeat, for which I would have been relieved had it not started playing more songs of the same level of annoyingosity (yeah, I make up words too ~ Homer Simpson). After four hours of this, I was ready to shoot myself! I'm contemplating starting my psychology homework, but it doesn't look like I'll be starting that any time soon. I've become such a procrastinator.
